Hosted by Barranquilla+20 and Mujeres por la Justicia Climática, this panel will highlight the leadership of Indigenous women from Colombia and their lived experiences in the Amazon territory. As guardians of forests, rivers, and biodiversity, Indigenous women are at the forefront of climate justice, weaving together ancestral knowledge, cultural identity, and community resilience. The event will showcase stories of territorial defense, resistance to extractive industries, and grassroots solutions to climate and biodiversity crises. By centering Indigenous voices in a global dialogue, the session will emphasize the importance of gender-transformative, rights-based approaches to climate governance. It will also generate collective recommendations to strengthen the recognition of Indigenous leadership in Amazonian and global climate action, ensuring that equity, justice, and traditional knowledge are at the heart of transformative solutions.
